Triumph Mayflower Saloon

Descripción

The Triumph Mayflower is a small luxury family car built from 1949 to 1953 by the British Standard Motor Company and sold by their subsidiary Triumph Motor Company. It was announced at the British International Motor Show in October 1949, but deliveries did not begin until mid-1950. The Mayflower had a traditional "razor edge" styling, similar to that of the Triumph Renown, which imitated the styling then used by Bentley and Rolls-Royce cars. Standard's managing director, Sir John Black, believed that this would be particularly attractive to the American market. An advantage of the car's upright styling was that, despite its small size, it could seat four people comfortably. This Triumph Mayflower was delivered new to England in 1953, so it is a very early Mayflower. A few decades ago, the Triumph moved to the Netherlands, after years of standing in the back of the shed, the car was allowed to see the sunlight for the first time in 2021. The car has undergone a complete restoration, as they call it Nuts and Bolts. The two-tone paint color green/white gives this car the typical 50s look but retains the chic appearance of an English classic car. The interior has been completely renovated, with the wooden parts in the dashboard completely handmade. The engine and gearbox have been completely overhauled. And a completely new electrical system has been custom made. Thousands of hours have been spent on the restoration of this classic Triumph. The Triumph Mayflower is now for sale to make room for a next project.. A stylish English classic, ready to enjoy.
